Serving Up Smiles at Bowling Green Kiwanis

Recently I had the pleasure of volunteering at the Bowling Green Kiwanis Pancake Day. Armed with spatulas, syrup, and a lot of coffee, our team served up pancakes to over 1,000 people! It was a day filled with delicious food, laughter, and the kind of connections that make small towns like ours so special.

If you’ve never been to a Kiwanis Pancake Day, let me paint a picture. Imagine the scent of fresh pancakes in the air, kids running around with sticky fingers, and tables filled with friends and family sharing stories over breakfast. It’s amazing how something as simple as pancakes can bring people together, raising funds to support local initiatives and reminding us of the power of community.

One of my favorite moments was seeing the look on kids’ faces when they got their stack topped with a mountain of syrup. It’s in these small moments that I’m reminded of why I love this community and why I feel so lucky to be part of events like these.

As an author, I often find myself lost in fictional worlds, creating stories from imagination. But it’s days like these that keep me grounded in real-life stories. On the surface, serving pancakes might not seem like a big deal, but when you’re part of something that brings people together, supports local causes, and leaves everyone just a bit happier and more connected, it feels pretty special.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, and to the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club for organizing such a wonderful event. I’m already looking forward to the next Pancake Day, and the chance to serve up another helping of community spirit.
